Paul Weller Announces New Single

Paul Weller Announces New Single

Starting with the mod/punk-rock band “The Jam” (1976-1982), Weller then went on to branch out musically to a more soulful style with the Style Council (1983-1989). In 1991 he re-established himself as a successful solo artist, and continues to remain a respected singer, lyricist and guitarist, a fact reaffirmed by his awarding of the 2009 BRIT award for Best Male Solo Artist. He has remained a national rather than an international star, and much of his songwriting is rooted in British culture. He is also the principal figure of the 1970s and 80s mod revival, often referred to as the Modfather

New single, double A side - “Fast Car/ Slow Traffic”/“Andromeda” released September 13th on Island Records

The single will be the next from Wellers’ overwhelmingly critically acclaimed hit album “Wake Up The Nation” which has been haield as the best album of his career.

The single also reunites Paul with his former Jam bandmate, Bruce Foxton - the first time the pair have teamed up since The Jam split in 1983. The pair unsurpsingly brought the house down at the Albert Hall when they performed Fast Car together on Paul’s birthday…guess you might have seen a reunion coming?

“It’s a real London tune. It’s pretty full on. It was really interesting to hear Bruce playing on it. You can instantly tell it’s him” Paul Weller

Rumour also has it that there will be a remix of Fast Car/Slow Traffic by Primal Scream - watch this space for updates!
