Fender Select Series Film Trailer
Dolphin Music on Feb 8, 2012
Fender debuted their 2012 Select Series of Telecasters, Stratocasters and Bass guitars at the annual NAMM trade show which took place in LA earlier this year. They’re making a big, BIG fuss about these guitars. We haven’t yet played them for ourselves but can only bet they’re good stuff, otherwise Fender wouldn’t have made even bigger noise with their promo trailer which taps into the mystique of the search, anticipation and desire involved in the quest for the perfect new guitar.
The Select Series campaign is a playful tribute to classic spy films, including The Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jr. and filmed at the historic Sunset Marquis hotel in LA, where rock legends inculding the Rolling Stones, the Who, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley and U2 call a home-from-home.
Included in the Select Series line-up is a Stratocaster and HSS strat which give you pure signature sound, a Telecaster and a choice of either a Carved Koa Top Tele and Carved Maple Top which all elevate Fender’s very first legendary guitar model. If you’re a bassist, you have the choice between a Precision or Jazz bass which both include premium features and present an elegantly crafted, sonically seismic new take on the bass guitars which started them all. All models in the Select Series include specially voiced Fender Select single-coil and humbucking guitar pickups and seismically powerful-yet-nuanced bass pickups that are to deliver masterful tone and unparalleled performance.
What do you think to the Fender trailer? Does it make you more likely to want to buy a Select Series guitar or do you think they’re trying to big up a range of guitars they’re unlikely to sell to their usual audience?
