So we have three dates for you today, John Peel’s 72nd birthday, a Sonny & Cher number 1 and the day The Doors split up, just 2 years after Jim Morrison’s death.
The First Ever Artist Owned Studio
Dolphin Music on Aug 26, 2011
On this day in 1970, Jimi Hendrix opened not only his first recording studio, but the world’s first artist recording studio in New York City’s Greenwich Village. I literally cannot emphasise the amount of products we’ve got coming in at the moment that are iOS related. This year has been the ‘…device for iPad, iPod and iPod Touch’, and I must say, here in Dolphin marketing team we are all loving it. You probably already know how easy it is to create a song on the iPad if your the proud owner of the AmpliTube iRig, AmpKit Link or Apogee’s Jam interface, but if you’re one of those dubious guitarists who don’t think creating songs through your iOS device is for you, let us change your mind with the help of our friends over at Apogee.

As an influential post-war blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist, John Lee Hooker was most known for his droning one-chord blues playing that was so different from the Delta Blues of the time. He was said to embody his own unique genre of the blues, even incorporating boogie-woogie piano style and rhythm to his amazing music. His best known songs include “Boom Boom” and “Boogie Chillen” which are both fantastic when you hear them on vinyl. Inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame as well as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, you will be hard pressed to find a better blues musician than John Lee Hooker.
